Round 5 of the Australian Superbike Championship was on August 18 & 19 at Queenslands Morgan Park Raceway. Firstly Motorcycling Australia have got it spot on with the future of the sport. I have never seen so many young riders and familys envolved in the sport. The formula is working a treat and the sport is in very good hands with a lot to look foward to. The talent pool is endless. With out giong into endless detail about the meeting Troy Herfoss was on pole from Bayliss and Waters. Race one was in two parts due to a red flag on lap three after a fall when Josh Cavenagh crashed this Kasawaki. Race one would now be over twelve laps. The race was between four riders Herfoss Bayliss Maxwell and Waters. Herfoss won on the Honda from Bayliss Ducati Maxwell Yamaha and Waters Suzuki. Race Two the same four riders had to fight it out with Herfoss winning again this time from Waters Maxwell and Bayliss who did well after running off he track on turn one and did a bit of moto cross before rejoining. Another great race meeting only wish the ASBK was coming to SMP. Next round will be at Winton September 7-9 if can get to a round and there is only two to go the other at Phillip Isl with the Moto GP get along and you wont be dissapointed......you may even get an autograph from a former three times world champion....Go Troy.
